Miss Ashley, French teacher, Scout ‘master’, and long-time secretary of this Society, was associated with St Michael’s over many years, so not surprisingly many former pupils and staff had fond recollections of her.
She died in 1979, and former Old Boy Rev Derrik Jenkyns (who was a pupil under her in the 1940s) preached at her funeral service at Burford.
Some of the original text of his address has just come to light, and is reproduced here.
